Dubai Mall, Dubai
The Dubai Mall is the world's largest shopping mall with a floor area of almost 170,000m2. Located adjacent to the Burj Khalifa - the world's tallest structure - the mall includes 1,200 shops. In addition to the retail spaces, the mall is made up of a number of large public areas, with ceilings of up to 30 metres high.
Lighting Design for the project was awarded to Project Lighting Design (PLD) with Stephen Gough specifying RCL's high powered Metal Halide DR3 spotlights for these public areas. In total 990 luminaires were used for the project, mounted on custom DMX light bars specifically designed by RCL for the project.
