In 1766, James Christie opened his London auction house and launched the world's first fine art auctioneers and the reputation has grown ever since. Christie's holds a wide range of art including paintings, prints, sculpture, books and manuscripts, jewellery, furniture and decorative arts. In August 2008 Christie's opened its newly refurbished galleries, which use 585 DR8 projectors, designed for the project by RCL. The DR8 features:
- Control by hand-held remote control, DMX or DALI
- Reduced 'turning circle' so that the projector can be installed in a 200mm channel or trough
- Improved 'selection' when using the hand held controller: the sensor flashes during selection to give the user an aiming point
- Louvre holder, lens holder and anti-glare accessories incorporated in the lamp cartridge
- Dimmable by internal dimmer or external dimming system.
