09.03.2009 Opening 9th March 2009, the British Music Experience (www.britishmusicexperience.com ) is a unique, permanent exhibition at London's O2 Arena dedicated to the history of popular music in Britain.
Using state of the art effects and iconic memorabilia the BME shows how rock, pop, dance and other genres were formed and have influenced the last sixty years of British culture. Features include the defining sounds of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Dusty Springfield and the stadium filling giants like The Who and Queen as well as more recent crowd-pleasers such as Spice Girls, Oasis, Coldplay, and Arctic Monkeys.
Lighting Designer David Atkinson (www.dald.co.uk) specified 56 of RCL’s Director DR2 projectors on hook clamps with DMX512 interface for part of the lighting installation.
Design and commissioning of the DMX installation was by Stewart Parker of Data Design Service (www.datadesignservice.com) and the lights were supplied via A.C.Entertainment Technologies Ltd (www. acspecialprojects.com).
RCL is best known for the fact that it’s range of track and recessed projectors can be aimed and dimmed using an ultra-simple handheld controller but a number of recent projects have required the use of DMX or DALI and both these interfaces are now available for all RCL models.
